Pear tree 'Honey Sweet'/semi-dwarf
Pyrus communis
5 m       4 m      Hardiness zone 5

Pear trees (Pyrus communis) are generally easier to grow than other commercial fruits and are a good choice for heavy clay soils. Chosen for its ability to fruit on its own and at a young age, the pear tree ‘Honey Sweet’, partially self-fertile, is an obvious choice (along with the ‘Loma‘ variety) for those with limited space. This is especially true for most of our customers, who prefer to diversify with other fruit species when they have room for more than one tree.

The fruit of the ‘Honey Sweet’ pear, with its russeted golden hue, contains a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth flesh that is sweet and honey-scented, reaching its peak flavor a few weeks after harvest. The pear tree ‘Honey Sweet’ is resistant to bacterial fire blight and leaf spot diseases.
