Saskatoon berry 'Isaac'
Amelanchier alnifolia
1.5 m       1.2 m      Hardiness zone 2

The Saskatoon berry ‘Isaac’ (Amelanchier alnifolia) is known for its decorative virtues in all seasons with one of the first spring blooms, new bronze leaves in spring, fruits early in July that change the entire color palette from pink to purple.

‘Isaac’ is particularly productive because of its very large fruits in the shape of a small pear, easy to harvest in the most compact Saskatoon berry shrub available in nurseries. A real pleasure to eat fresh, its fruits attract birds for a beneficial sharing. Cooking in jam, pie or other dessert, reveals a taste of almond paste.

Adaptable to various soils, even acidic, preferring fresh or humid soils but always well drained, in the sun, in the shade of a wooded area, or a nourishing forest. The Saskatoon berry ‘Isaac’ tolerates spring floods and diseases. You only need a small space for this small, partially self-fertile serviceberry. Native.
