Columnar apple tree 'McExcel' / M106
Malus domestica
2.5 m       1 m      Hardiness zone 4

The columnar apple tree ‘McExcel’ (Malus domestica) is a cultivar that offers strong resistance to scab and other diseases. It ripens early in the season and is a great alternative to the classic ‘McIntosh’, with fewer pesticides needed.

Producing from a young age, most columnar apple and crabapple trees bear fruit the year after planting. Their compact growth habit allows them to fit almost anywhere, even in pots on a sunny balcony. Alternate varieties, spacing them about a meter apart, to create a fruiting hedge that offers much more than just privacy. Cross-pollination is required.
