Honeysuckle 'Major Wheeler'
Lonicera sempervirens
The honeysuckle ‘Major Wheeler’ (Lonicera sempervirens) is particularly floriferous but not very fragrant. Its red trumpet-shaped flowers are followed by decorative red fruits. Its long-lasting and abundant summer flowering, with an exotic appearance, often resumes in full force when autumns are mild. It attracts hummingbirds who have the perfect beak, like a straw to drink the sweet nectar at the bottom of the trumpet-shaped flowers.
You will have to help it climb by directing it towards a support around which it will wrap itself, otherwise it can also be used as ground cover or fall from a low wall. The honeysuckle ‘Major Wheeler’ likes humidity but tolerates some droughts. Old classic resistant to powdery mildew.
