raspberry purple 'Royalty'
Rubus idaeus
1,2 m       0,9 m      Hardiness zone 3

The raspberry purple ‘Royalty’ (Rubus idaeus), of excellent caliber, is among the most productive. Its slightly acidic flavor, although pleasant, predisposes it to the transformation of jams, pies and delectable artisanal wines.

It does not sucker. It is less likely to become invasive than other raspberry plants, provided that it is pruned, at least twice a season, to about 75 cm to 90 cm in height. Collect the tender shoots that you can eat like asparagus, raw or cooked, or in sweet herbal tea. Even if the plant fortunately survives, the harvest will be juicier if the raspberry purple ‘Royalty’ does not suffer from drought. Enjoy picking raspberries ripened to perfection, from varieties selected for their flavor, sweeter than in stores, and cut prices, which are increasingly high due to labor-intensive picking time.

Production begins in the 2nd year, and can decline due to diseases after 7 or 8 years of good harvests. Self-fertile.
