The Saskatoon berry ‘Obelisk’ (Amelanchier alnifolia) is a small, uniform and oval columnar tree, this selection also called ‘Standing Ovation’ volunteers to erect fruit and bird hedges or to bring relief and verticality to the garden. It adapts to various soils, even acidic, preferring fresh or humid soils but always well drained, both in the sun and in the shade of a wooded area, or a nourishing forest. Eliminate the suckers to preserve its arrowed shape.

Known for its decorative virtues in all seasons with one of the first spring blooms, new bronze leaves in spring that turn blue before shining with all red flames at the end of the course.

Its summer fruits pass the entire color palette from pink to purple. The fruits of the Saskatoon berry ‘Obelisk’ are delicious to eat fresh and also attract birds. It resists diseases including powdery mildew and floods. Cooking in jam, pie or other dessert, reveals a taste of almond paste. Partially self-fertile.
