Korean mint 'Korean Zest'
Agastache rugosa

Korean mint ‘Korean Zest’ (Agastache rugosa), this honey plant with flowers like candles stuck in an aniseed glaze, invites a crowd of pollinators, bees, and butterflies to the party. A captivating audio-visual show, to watch and even listen to, so much buzzing in there!

It is almost as sweet as a stevia to which a slight menthol and a taste of black licorice have been added, which we either love or hate… Pick the flowers to electrify a fruit salad with pretty blue tones and purple zest. As for the leaves, they make excellent digestive herbal teas. Also called Korean mint, it has the hardiness of a plant from the high mountains of Asia, and is more compact than agastache-fennel (agastache foeniculum).

Repellent, blurring the olfactory tracks of insects, the Korean mint ‘Korean Zest’ limits infestations. In spring, some leave it for dead but most of the time, it is simply in no hurry. To wait, plant tulips or other early plants to fill the gap, while waiting for its resurrection. Considered all the same as a short-lived perennial, it is good to let a few flowers mature to ensure their return by re-sowing in a sunny flowerbed.
