Lilac
Syringa vulgaris
5 m       3 m      Hardiness zone 2

The lilac (Syringa vulgaris), with its classic spring fragrance, is among the most resistant and vigorous, and can become massive and invasive when left to spread by its suckers for too long. It is not capricious and is satisfied with all types of soil, even heavy and clayey, sandy or acidic, provided that they drain well.

Its flowers in bouquets, can be sprinkled in a multitude of sweet or savory dishes. Its structure, soaked in doughnut batter, lends itself well to frying, accompanied by a lilac syrup.
